Did you know that no matter how much sleep you get or how healthy your lifestyle is, the eye area tends to show the most signs of stress and maturing? That’s because the skin at your eye area is extremely delicate (it’s actually the thinnest skin on the body!) and the muscles in this area are under constant contraction from laughing, squinting and whatnot. And, with the likes of fluid retention and a lack of oil glands, this area is prone to puffiness, dark circles, dryness, loss of elasticity and wrinkling.
With so much going on, it’s no wonder you’re starting a new eye treatment! From ingredients to application, you’re going to want to get the most out of your product so we’ll take you through some simple tips to maximize your results.
Ingredients to look out for
When it comes to puffiness, dark circles, dryness and wrinkling there’s a few key ingredients to look out for:
Puffiness – Tighten and minimize inflammation with a caffeine ingredient
Dark circles – Everything from vitamin C, niacinamide, retinol and caffeine can plump the skin beneath your eyes so that darkness is less visible, or gradually lighten up discoloration
Dryness – Humectants like glycerin and hyaluronic acid attract hydrating water to the skin and assist to combat dryness
Loss of elasticity and wrinkling – Fine lines improve with increased collagen production and hydration so look for the likes of resveratrol, hyaluronic acid or retinol

Apply at the right time
Whether you have a simple routine or you dabble in skincare layering, make sure you apply your eye serum at the right time within your routine! This will help your product to absorb properly and therefore maximize the results.

But in short –
- Eye serum
Apply a small amount
When it comes to an eye serum, just one pump (a pea-sized amount) is all you need for both under eyes! Apply it gently beneath your eyes, from the inner corners to the outer corners (imagine filling the space of an eye pad), then bring any remaining cream up to your upper lids and brow bones.
Apply the right way
Apply gently and with care. As the skin is so delicate and thin, any pulling, tugging or rubbing can actually lead to wrinkling and inflammation – which is precisely what we’re trying to improve here!
Be careful not to apply right at the eyeline as our skin is super absorptive and we’re sure you’ll want to avoid product seeping into your eyes…not ideal.
Pause before proceeding
Allow your eye serum to completely dry (we recommend at least 60 seconds) before applying any other skincare or makeup. Not only does this allow the eye serum to absorb and therefore work, but it also helps to prevent skincare pilling which could undo all your hard work!
Give it time to work
Like anything in life, good things come with time! With everything from hyaluronic acid, green coffee, resveratrol, vitamin B5, rosehip oil and glycerin, you’ll want to use morning and night for 8 weeks to allow the ingredients to work.
